Settee by me... I mean, my mom

12:49 PM

Ok this is one of my favorites! Probably because I made it with my mom (We are the same person 23 years apart.. ... ... Im not joking... When we are around each other, we fuse into one person... Chris hates loves it...)

Seriously, here are some of my favorite pics of me and my mom

A blurry picture from Chris and my wedding... both Mom and I dance like true white girls...

Im not in this picture, but I am peeing my pants while taking this picture... seriously, could this get any better??! ohh mom...

Im not in this picture either... but this is a picture of my parents in college... and it TOTALLY creeps me and my little brother (Steven) out... me: spitting image of my mom at this age... Steven: could be dad's twin... ... ... it scares us both.
From my mom's 50th b-day... dont ask why Im wearing cleaning gloves... I really dont know... But my mom looks super cute in a tiara....
But back to the project... I dont have the usual 18,000 pictures since it was made before this purdy little blog started.

So let's start at the beginning...

My mom came to visit me in Dallas from Scottsdale, AZ (where I grew up) and we went to some local markets to get some much needed furniture for our house (... When Chris and I moved in, we didnt even own a dresser... click HERE to see how I actually got one...)

So when my mom and I found this little gem for $100, we pounced on it...
Yea... she's hideous... whoever made this fabric choice may have been blind color-blind color-handicapped...

After my mom and I looked for fabrics here in Dallas, without success, my mom sent me this picture via her newly photo-capable cellphone (btw: Im proud that she learned how to send a picture message.. GO MOM!)
After I nearly passed out due to the awesome-ness of this combo, she agreed to get it for me and send it back to Dallas... Seriously, this woman has decor skillz like no other... (I'll have to crash her/the house I grew up in next time Im home in Arizona...) I would be lucky to get 1/8th of the talent she has...

Once I received all my pretty fabric, I enlisted the help of an AWESOME upholstery company here in Dallas: Back Alley Furniture... Honestly, I forget how I found them (maybe Craigslist?...yea, that sounds like me...) but they are AWESOME and did a great job for a GREAT price... here is their Facebook page which has some fan-freakin-tastic before and after shots. Seriously, check it out...

Anyway, when I went to pick it up, this is the beautiful piece of greatness that I got back...
Yea, I know... she's better than fantastic.... and I can take ZERO responsibility for it since it was my mom's idea for the fabric, buttons, etc... My favorite part are the buttons on the bottom... super cute...

Here is the awesome before/after for ya...
(sorry, my normal computer for doing my before/afters is having some problems and I have to take her into the Apple doctor... so this will have to work...)

I took her home and placed her in the little random space we have to the right of our fireplace.

I think she compliments the room perfect... (and I'm still loving my little Easter decor I put up around my mantel... click HERE for a better view)

So what do you guys think? Do you like it as much as I do? ... I would love your feedback!!
